Katie was another of our part-time pets that frequently toured the neighborhood. We have had many over the years living in Bright's Grove. On one occasion my wife woke up screaming at a cat sleeping on my pillow after I had left for work. We don't have a cat.

It is here that I need to point out that rarely, and I do mean RARELY, do I find that my photographs or any reference material in of themselves becomes the composition for a painting. So often the compositions are an amalgamation of several references. But here when the cat and my daughter are perfect but the setting is not, you must work with it. Can you imagine what I would have ended up with if I had ask my daughter to pose elsewhere, the moment would have been lost. So don't be a slave to your photographs.
